Last reviewed: October 9, 2026. An addon that works in Classic Era is not automatically compatible with Forever's modified interface. Prioritize reliable authors, current download timestamps and transparent permissions.
What matters for this topic
Quest navigation, bags and auction utilities are useful categories to evaluate, but beta updates can break interface APIs. Keep a clean baseline before installing multiple packages.
Keep the setup simple and reversible. Back up configuration before testing beta features, and prefer current client evidence over older screenshots or convenience claims.
Practical steps
Use the following short plan as a starting point, then adjust it for your character, group and the current test build. A good decision should be repeatable and easy to review when the next update changes the rules.
- Back up the WTF and Interface folders before installing anything.
- Enable addons in small batches so errors are identifiable.
- Compare client versions and author changelogs.
- Disable anything requesting untrusted executables or off-site credentials.
What can go wrong?
Avoid installing untrusted executables, sharing account credentials, or assuming that every old addon API still works. After a patch, confirm information in the client instead of reusing a screenshot or price estimate from an earlier test.
Frequently asked question
How can I test this without disrupting my setup?
Make one change at a time, keep a working baseline and compare the result before switching to a more complicated configuration.
