Level-30 Balance Druid in Forever can follow two noticeably different paths: a cast-heavy approach shaped by Eclipse, or a route that leans on Moonfire and Insect Swarm for efficient damage while moving.
Beta scope: These are Forever-specific rules and examples available by October 16, 2026. Exact damage values and availability may change with later builds. This is not a Retail or Season of Discovery guide.
What changed in Forever
The damage-over-time approach allows you to apply Moonfire and Insect Swarm, move and reposition while the effects continue. It suits outdoor areas where enemies approach from several angles. Yet it does not mean applying every DoT to an enemy that will die in two seconds. Judge whether the effect can run for enough time to justify its initial cast and mana cost.
Apply it during normal play
Eclipse provides the foundation for weaving Wrath and Starfire in a hard-casting plan. The level-30 talent budget makes that setup different from a fully developed level-60 build. To get value, roots, distance and safe casting windows matter. If a mob reaches you halfway through every Starfire, your theoretical throughput will not be seen in practice.
Important restrictions and mistakes
Nature's Splendor extends multiple periodic effects; it is especially relevant when the player wants to keep DoTs active. The early beta reference also discusses Overgrowth and Nature's Grace. Verify talent prerequisites after updates, as October changes altered Druid scaling. Do not assume a dated tree screenshot still represents the current version.
Build or route testing
Compare ten comparable outdoor enemies with both plans. Record mana consumed, kills per minute, recovery breaks and deaths. Run the same exercise in a dungeon where other players control enemy position; the hard-casting option may have a very different value in that environment.
Quick decision table
| Situation | Check or action |
|---|---|
| DoT focus | mobile fights |
| Eclipse focus | controlled casts |
| Solo | avoid repeated interruptions |
| Dungeon | use predictable targets |
A reliable test procedure
- Confirm the client build, class level and current talent prerequisites.
- Use the same or similar enemies to compare one change without hidden gear differences.
- Include recovery and travel time instead of counting only burst damage.
- Document uncertain interactions and retest after Blizzard beta notes change them.

Frequently asked questions
Is Eclipse automatically strongest for solo quests?
Not necessarily; mana and casting windows change the outcome.
Does level-30 Balance match final raid performance?
No. It is a partial toolkit at an early beta cap.
