GUIDE

WoW Forever Priest at 30: Wand Talents or Deep Holy?

A level-30 Priest has a narrow talent budget. A safe solo quest build and a deeper Holy dungeon build both make sense, but trying to combine every attractive early talent can leave a character one point short of the intended ability.

Beta context: Tested guidance applies to WoW Forever around the level-30 beta cap and the October 16 development state. Review the in-game tooltip after every beta update; do not treat it as a final level-60 ranking.

Start with the 21-point constraint

At level 30, normal talent allocation provides 21 points. Spirit of Redemption needs 20 points already invested in Holy, making it an investment for a player focused on healing. Wand Specialization sits in Discipline and is useful for steady outdoor kills. Taking early Discipline points therefore delays reaching the deeper Holy objective. Do the arithmetic before copying a screenshot that assumes extra Legacy testing points.

A solo-questing benchmark

Choose a stable route with comparable enemies. Record the number of offensive casts before you can finish with a wand, mana consumed and recovery time. Avoid measuring only wand damage; if the opener requires extra mana, the complete time-per-kill may be worse. Repeat with the actual spell ranks and wand available to your level-30 Priest.

Dungeon-healing benchmark

Record how often your party truly needs group healing, emergency Flash Heal or additional Holy tools. A talent is worth taking when it saves people on the encounters you run, not because it appears in a theoretical level-60 build. Prayer of Healing is available at level 30, but it is expensive. Deep Holy can help a dedicated healer without automatically improving solo damage.

Decide on a respec point

If most sessions are solo questing, an efficient wand path may be worth preserving. If you become the permanent group healer, model a separate deep Holy allocation and compare the cost of changing talents. Blizzard notes describe temporary beta respec pricing, not a guaranteed launch price.

Practical checklist

  1. Check the current build and the exact level of your character.
  2. Use the Talent Calculator to compare available points and prerequisites.
  3. Test one change at a time and record a repeatable outcome.
  4. Review the latest Forever news before relying on a pre-patch guide.
  5. If grouping is relevant, agree on roles and test with the same party composition.

Frequently asked questions

Can 21 points cover every Holy and Discipline talent?

No. The budget forces meaningful tradeoffs.

Are extra Legacy talent points guaranteed?

Do not assume test-granted beta points are permanent release entitlements.
