GUIDE

WoW Forever Protection Paladin at 30: Seals, Judgment and Threat

Protection Paladin at level 30 is a practical tank option in Forever, with smoother mana use and changed Seal/Judgment interactions, but it still requires careful pull organization.

WoW Forever beta note: This guide is based on the Forever client and published October 2026 references. It does not assume Retail or Season of Discovery mechanics without version confirmation.

The core mechanic

The Forever level-30 guide notes that Judgment does not consume the active Seal in the way some old Classic guides assume. That reduces the constant maintenance burden, but it does not justify neglecting mana. Check which Seal is active and whether the target actually needs an interrupt, defensive cooldown or position adjustment.

How to use it during real play

Holy Strike adds a meaningful action while leveling and tanking, yet the October notes changed its cooldown and talent support. A rotation copied from the first beta build can be wrong even if every button name still exists. Verify the current spell description and track when it becomes available during your normal attacks.

Mistakes and changing beta behavior

Maintain threat on the enemies that threaten your healer. Ask the party to focus targets and delay excessive burst until you have control. When positioning mobs, keep ranged enemies from attacking players outside your available protection abilities. In a five-player run, good coordination is often more valuable than an extra marginal damage stat.

Practical setup and test plan

Your gear and talents should balance mitigation, mana recovery and actual damage taken. A Paladin who never dies but must drink after each short trash pack still slows the group. Compare a repeatable set of encounters against the group's clear time and healer recovery.

Repeatable beta testing checklist

  1. Check your current level, relevant talent ranks and ability tooltips.
  2. Test your normal gameplay against comparable opponents, not one cherry-picked critical hit.
  3. Record travel, mana, health or combat-resource recovery alongside encounter duration.
  4. Revisit the setup after an official tuning patch and update the build date.

Use the Talent Calculator for available points, the Community Builds section for sharing your setup, and LFG if your experiment requires a party.
