Forever's Retribution Paladin receives new abilities and improvements over Vanilla-era gameplay. At level 30, the practical challenge is maintaining useful damage and support without pretending the full endgame kit is available.
Beta scope: These are Forever-specific rules and examples available by October 16, 2026. Exact damage values and availability may change with later builds. This is not a Retail or Season of Discovery guide.
What changed in Forever
Start with the current Seal and Judgment behavior rather than a Classic guide that assumes Judgment always consumes a Seal. Test what changes on your action bar, and do not spend mana repeatedly reapplying an effect that remains active. Keep an appropriate weapon equipped, because melee attacks remain a significant part of your damage across low-level encounters.
Apply it during normal play
Holy Strike has seen important tuning changes during October, including cooldown and talent interactions. A once-popular build screenshot can become wrong after a patch. Check the latest tooltip before building a priority list. Do not attribute damage to a spell-power coefficient copied from another expansion.
Important restrictions and mistakes
The Paladin also brings party support. Before a dungeon, assign blessings or other compatible buffs according to what your teammates need. Support that prevents a death or reduces healer recovery time can be more valuable than another burst window. Communicate when a player needs help instead of chasing purely personal damage metrics.
Build or route testing
At level 30, talent points are limited. Compare a build focused on smooth solo questing with one intended for predictable dungeon group damage. Record kill time and mana use, and reconsider the split after the next beta balance pass. Avoid declaring a level-60 raid ranking based on this temporary cap.
Quick decision table
| Situation | Check or action |
|---|---|
| Weapon | level-appropriate melee upgrade |
| Judgment | verify Seal behavior |
| Holy Strike | update after October tuning |
| Party | coordinate support |
A reliable test procedure
- Confirm the client build, class level and current talent prerequisites.
- Use the same or similar enemies to compare one change without hidden gear differences.
- Include recovery and travel time instead of counting only burst damage.
- Document uncertain interactions and retest after Blizzard beta notes change them.
