Last reviewed: October 9, 2026. Understanding missing conveniences prevents frustration. Original-Azeroth travel, fixed-level enemies and the absence of flying mounts change how players spend time.
What matters for this topic
Forever aims to extend the old world without simply importing every Retail feature. Some quality-of-life systems exist selectively, so compare individual features instead of saying it is just Vanilla.
Keep the setup simple and reversible. Back up configuration before testing beta features, and prefer current client evidence over older screenshots or convenience claims.
Practical steps
Use the following short plan as a starting point, then adjust it for your character, group and the current test build. A good decision should be repeatable and easy to review when the next update changes the rules.
- Plan ground-travel time between quest hubs.
- Do not expect level scaling to make every area equally useful.
- Check transmog visibility settings separately from gameplay rules.
- Read class and dungeon updates before trusting old guides.
What can go wrong?
Avoid installing untrusted executables, sharing account credentials, or assuming that every old addon API still works. After a patch, confirm information in the client instead of reusing a screenshot or price estimate from an earlier test.
Frequently asked question
How can I test this without disrupting my setup?
Make one change at a time, keep a working baseline and compare the result before switching to a more complicated configuration.
