Find out how the three-character reservation limit works and what to prepare. This guide uses Blizzard's published information available as of October 30, 2026. Where a launch-client detail has not been independently checked, we say so.
What Blizzard has confirmed
Blizzard's early reservation window runs October 27 through November 3. Eligible players can reserve up to three character names in total across all rulesets during this early period.
Why this matters for your character
The limit applies across rulesets, not three names per ruleset. Reserving two on PvP leaves one early reservation for another ruleset. Name availability is first-come, first-served.
What to do before or during launch
Prepare spelling and fallback choices before opening character creation. Confirm your account eligibility and your intended ruleset, faction and companions before using the limited slots.
What is still uncertain?
The three-name limitation is specifically for early reservation; it should not be presented as a permanent total character limit.
