An open test of launch hardware
Blizzard has announced a regional WoW Forever stress test for October 19, 2026. The regular beta will be taken offline first, and the stress test will run on regional hardware intended for the live game. The aim is to expose launch-day issues through ordinary play and high concurrent traffic, not to let players reserve names or gain permanent progression.
Confirmed start times
| Region | Announced start |
|---|---|
| Europe | October 19, 19:00 CEST |
| Americas and Oceania | October 19, 2:00 p.m. PDT |
| Taiwan | October 20, 5:00 a.m. local |
| Korea | October 20, 6:00 a.m. local |
The times above reproduce Blizzard's announcement and are not converted into the reader's local time.
Do you need a subscription?
No. Blizzard says anyone with a WoW account may participate, even without an active subscription. The announcement does not promise unrestricted access to other paid game content or guarantee the absence of login queues.
What happens to your character?
You can create a character, quest, trade, chat and form groups during the event. Blizzard says the test runs for a few hours, after which stress-test characters and their names will be deleted. The regular beta will then reopen. Do not interpret the temporary test realm as an early launch character reservation.
Useful checklist
- Check that your account can log in before the announced start.
- Choose the intended region; hardware and queues may differ across regions.
- Test normal activities that create load: character creation, grouping, trading, questing and chat.
- Write down disconnects, latency or other reproducible problems with the time and region.
- Do not invest in a stress-test character expecting its items or name to persist.
You can coordinate with others via the site's LFG tool, but remember that the stress test is time-limited and progress is temporary.
FAQ
Will these characters carry into launch? No. Blizzard explicitly confirms a full wipe of stress-test characters and names.
Will the beta disappear permanently? No. Blizzard says the beta reopens after the stress test.
Is the stress test a confirmed launch date? No. It is a server-load event, not a launch announcement.
