WoW Forever Returning Player Guide: What Is Different from Classic?

A compact explanation of Forever's persistent design, new routes, Legacy and rulesets. This guide uses Blizzard's published information available as of October 30, 2026. Where a launch-client detail has not been independently checked, we say so.

What Blizzard has confirmed

Blizzard describes Forever as a lasting world set after Warcraft III Reforged: Forsaken Kingdom and before Molten Core, with leveling across the original continents to level 60 and future additions.

Why this matters for your character

This is not a temporary ladder reset in which every familiar Classic system is guaranteed unchanged. New race and class options, reworked talents, Legacy progression, nine new dungeons and a ruleset-based community selection change how you plan a character.

What to do before or during launch

Approach Forever as a new playthrough: choose your social community, inspect the updated class toolkit, work through quests and treat old Classic routes as starting suggestions.

What is still uncertain?

New features promised on the roadmap are not necessarily available on November 4; separate the launch build from later phases.

Useful tools and further reading

Plan your skills with the Talent Calculator, compare shared setups in Community Builds and coordinate with real players through the LFG directory.
