Compare the four launch-oriented WoW Forever experiences and choose the right social environment. This guide uses Blizzard's published information available as of October 30, 2026. Where a launch-client detail has not been independently checked, we say so.
What Blizzard has confirmed
Forever replaces the traditional first-step realm list with a choice of broad gameplay rulesets. Normal supports opt-in PvP; PvP emphasizes contested-world combat; RP centers in-character community events; RP-PvP combines roleplay and world-PvP expectations.
Why this matters for your character
Think of rulesets primarily as a community and social-play choice, not as a damage or leveling advantage. Your friends' choice matters more than small theoretical differences.
What to do before or during launch
If joining friends, confirm region, ruleset, faction and whether the group plans organized guild activities. Ask guild recruiters which ruleset they will use.
What is still uncertain?
Blizzard's October 22 update adds RP-PvP at launch. Avoid guides that still list it as a post-launch-only option.
